FOCUS is again
preparing to distribute Thanksgiving food to
the needy in Harris County. This is not
meant to be a Thanksgiving meal, but rather
a supplement to offset increased family
needs during the holiday season. This
annual event has been very successful in the
past due to the generosity of local
churches, individuals, the Boy Scouts,
various organizations, and especially the
local schools. FOCUS is again asking for
your help for the 2006 Food Drive.
Last year, FOCUS
distributed food to 356 families in our
area. We always appreciate any donated food
and it will be used. However, we would like
you to consider these products as a first
priority, as this will enable us to supply
all families with similar groceries. At
this time, we especially need dried beans, pasta and sauce, instant
potatoes, ramen noodles, and jellies.
[Note: although homemade jams, jellies,
canned fruit, and vegetables are wonderful,
State Food Pantry requirements prohibit us
from distributing these items].
Organizations,
churches, and individuals are asked to
deliver collected food items to the Carver
Resource Center Gym area, located behind
Dowdle Gas Company in Hamilton, on
Wednesday, November 15th, between the hours
of 2 pm and 5 pm. If a different delivery
time is needed, or if you need food picked
up, please call Carolyn Horn at (706)

assist with at the Carver Resource Center

Picking up
food Wednesday, Nov. 15th
Receiving
food Wednesday, Nov. 15th from 2
pm to 5 pm
Sorting
food at Center Thursday, Nov. 16th
from 9 am until done
Preparing
the food bags Friday, Nov 17th
starting at 9 am
Distribution of food on Saturday, Nov. 18th
starting at 9 am
If you are aware of
a family who needs help from FOCUS during
this time, you will need to provide them
with the following information regarding
tickets and food pick-up:
Tickets can be picked
up at the FOCUS office located at 232
Hamilton Square Street in Hamilton on
Monday, Oct. 30th through Friday,
Nov. 3rd from 10 am to 2 pm and
on Saturday, Nov. 4th from 10 am
to 12 noon.
The scheduled time for
food pick-up at the Carver Resource Gym is
on Saturday, Nov. 18th from 9 am
until 12 noon. Participants will need a
ticket and identification for pick-up.
